The Richmond News named Josiah Kicks Academy Best Martial Arts Studio. We are genuinely pleased about it, and we want to be clear about why.
This is a community-voted award. It was not judged by a panel, and we did not enter it by filling in a form about ourselves. Families in Richmond put our name in. That makes it worth considerably more to us than anything we could have written about ourselves.
If you are a parent reading this while deciding between schools, here is the honest version of what an award like this does and does not tell you. It does not tell you our coaching is technically better than the school down the road. What it tells you is that a meaningful number of local families thought enough of the place to go and vote for it — which is a decent proxy for whether people actually enjoy being here.
The rest you should judge for yourself, in the room. Come and watch a class, or put your kid in one. The first session is free and there is nothing to sign.
Thank you to everyone who voted. We know that took a minute out of your day.
