Masters Club students performing at Josiah Kicks Academy
Performance Program

Masters Club

Weapons, acrobatics, choreography and freestyle — for kids who want martial arts to be something they perform, not only something they practise.

Two tiers

EVERY KID PERFORMS

The tier decides which stage a student stands on — not whether they get one at all.

The entry tier

Masters Club

Open to every kid in the program

No audition, no invitation. If your kid is training with us, they can be in Masters Club.

Where they perform

Performs at small community shows and in-house demonstrations.

The earned tier

Performance Team

Earned through standard and consistency

Selected from Masters Club on the basis of how a student trains — attendance, attitude and the standard they hold, not talent alone.

Where they perform

Performs at large events and showcase demonstrations.

Performance Team is earned, not bought. There is no fee that moves a student up and no way to skip the queue. Coaches select from Masters Club based on how a kid trains week to week — which means it stays worth something to the students who get there.

How a class runs

THE FOUR PILLARS

Every Masters Club class is built from the same four blocks, in the same order, every time. Kids know what is coming, which is half of why they settle so fast.

The four pillars of every Masters Club class: Culture — the history, terminology and tradition behind the weapon or technique being studied; Skill — technical drilling across striking, acrobatics, weapons and choreography; Creative — freestyle time where kids build their own combinations; Rehearsal — preparation for the next demonstration.
Program tenets

R.I.S.E.

The four things we ask of every Masters Club student, and the four things coaches actually assess when Performance Team selections come around.

RISE tenets: Respect — for the art, the coach and the person across from you. Integrity — doing it properly when nobody is counting. Spirit — energy that lifts the whole room. Effort — the one thing every student controls.

Masters Club is one of three branches a kid can take out of regular classes, alongside the Competition Team and Leadership Club. Nobody is locked into one.
