The JKA Games
One day, the whole academy on the mat together. A coach led seminar first, then an all ages team tournament and team challenges — students split across teams rather than divided by belt, so a nine year old and an adult end up on the same side.
It runs once a year, and it is the one day that shows families what the academy looks like as a whole rather than as their kid’s one class.
THE COACHES SEMINAR
Four coaches, four blocks. Students rotate through every one, so nobody spends the day doing only the thing they are already good at.
Sparring
Ring craft, timing and distance, run as a coached block rather than open sparring.
Fitness
Conditioning built around what the day actually demanded of the athletes.
Patterns
Technical pattern work, corrected in small groups.
Acrobatics
Tumbling and aerial technique — the block the younger students queue for.
TEAM TOURNAMENT
The tournament is run as teams, all ages mixed together, with points carried across events rather than won in a single match. A student who loses their round can still put points on the board for their team in a challenge.
It changes the atmosphere completely. Kids who would normally be nervous about competing find themselves being shouted for by teenagers they had never spoken to, and the day ends with a team score rather than a list of individual winners.

The JKA Games runs once a year and is open to every student in the academy. If you want your kid on the mat for the next one, the first step is a normal class.
